Krista Wonderly is a PhD in Nursing candidate at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Krista’s research focuses on health disparities and health equity in acute care illness and at end-of-life, with a focus on caring for populations disporportionately affected by social determinants of health.
Krista has worked as an critical care nurse since finishing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When working as a nurse in Detroit, she observed firsthand the grief felt by family members in the critical care environment. As COVID-19 swept the nation, and highly impacted the health of our communities, she witnessed firsthand the suffering of critically ill patients and their families. Because of this experience, she is committed to making the intensive care unit a more healing environment.
